Privacy Policy.
Effective May 26, 2026This Privacy Policy describes how segenza.com ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit segenza.com or any related properties (collectively, the "Site"). We have tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, please write to hello@segenza.com.
1. Information we collect
We collect three kinds of information.
Information you give us directly
If you subscribe to our newsletter, send us an email, or write us a letter, you give us the information you choose to share: typically your email address, your name (if you provide it), and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to you and, where you have asked, to send you the newsletter.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, when you visit segenza.com, our servers and analytics tools automatically log certain information: your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you visit, the time and duration of your visit, and the referring URL. This information is collected via cookies and similar technologies (see Section 3).
Information from third parties
When you click an affiliate link on segenza.com and complete a purchase at Amazon or another retailer, that retailer may share with us aggregate, non-identifying information about the transaction (such as the date, the product category, and the commission earned) so that we can be paid. We do not receive your name, address, payment details, or other personally identifying purchase information.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
- respond to your inquiries and reader letters;
- send you our newsletter if you have subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- understand how readers find and use segenza.com, so we can write better lists;
- detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address with third parties for their marketing purposes.
3. Cookies and tracking
segenza.com uses cookies and similar technologies. A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. We use:
- Essential cookies, which are necessary for the Site to function (for example, remembering whether you have closed a banner).
- Analytics cookies, which help us understand how readers use the Site, set by our analytics provider.
- Affiliate cookies, set by retailers like Amazon when you click through a Shop link. These cookies allow the retailer to attribute your purchase to segenza.com so that we can be paid a commission. They are set and read by the retailer, not by us.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when a cookie is set. Blocking cookies may affect your experience of the Site and other sites.
4. Third-party services
segenza.com uses third-party services for purposes such as hosting and content delivery, traffic analytics, affiliate-link attribution, and email delivery where applicable. These providers may receive standard technical information (such as IP addresses, browser and device details, and pages visited) in the course of operating their service. Each provider has its own privacy practices, which govern their handling of any information they receive.
When you click an outbound affiliate link, you leave the Site and the destination retailer's privacy policy governs your interaction with them. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third party before transacting with them.
5. How we share information
We share information only as described in this policy. Specifically:
- With service providers (such as our analytics, hosting, and newsletter providers) who process information on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect it;
- To comply with law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, or protect the rights, property, and safety of segenza.com, our readers, or others;
- In connection with a business transfer, merger, or acquisition, in which case we will provide notice to readers before any personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Data retention
We retain the information we collect for as long as necessary to provide the Site and the services described in this policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Reader correspondence is typically retained for the duration of any ongoing exchange and then archived or deleted. Newsletter subscribers' email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
Readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal information; to restrict or object to its processing; and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@segenza.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Readers in California (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information in the meaning of the CCPA. To exercise your rights, write to hello@segenza.com.
Readers elsewhere
If you are located in a jurisdiction with similar privacy rights, we will honor those rights to the extent required by applicable law. Write to hello@segenza.com with any request.
8. Children's privacy
segenza.com is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please write to hello@segenza.com and we will take steps to delete it.
9. International transfers
segenza.com is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in a country other than the one in which you reside. We rely on appropriate safeguards (including standard contractual clauses where applicable) for such transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted at this URL with the effective date noted at the top. Material changes will be announced via the Site or, where appropriate, by email. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
11. Contact
